India likely to hold Bumrah out until Test series against Sri Lanka

The Indian team management plans to wait on Jasprit Bumrah's return for the upcoming two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, which starts on Aug. 15 in Galle. Although his left knee shows no major damage, the BCCI medical staff advised an injection and a rest period, after which he began conditioning at the Centre of Excellence. He is slated to start bowling on Saturday, and his fitness will be reassessed before any travel decision is made.

It is unlikely he will travel with the squad to Mumbai for the Aug. 4 departure, and a late call may see him link up with the team directly in Galle. India will play a four-day warm-up in Colombo before the series, aiming for a 2-0 whitewash to keep World Test Championship hopes alive.
