India to construct over 1,000 affordable apartments in Seychelles by 2029

India's NBCC will build 1,008 low-cost housing units in Seychelles as the first phase of a new high-rise development, slated for completion in 2029.

Under a newly signed agreement, India's National Buildings Construction Corporation will lead the planning, design, procurement and construction of 1,008 affordable apartments in Seychelles, forming the first phase of the Île Aurore Housing Development Project. The multi-storey complex will offer two- and three-bedroom units along with supporting infrastructure such as connecting roads, utility networks and a sewage treatment plant serving the surrounding area.

The initiative is part of a larger master plan that envisions at least 1,800 residential units together with schools, commercial spaces, recreational areas and other public amenities. Financing for the housing component comes from a $75 million tranche of a $175 million special economic package announced by India during President Patrick Herminie’s state visit in February. The first phase is targeted for completion by 2029, representing Seychelles' first high-rise affordable housing effort and a milestone in the two-nation development partnership.
