Indian maritime regulator reports 15 seafarers dead and two missing amid West Asia and Black Sea conflicts
India's Directorate General of Maritime Administration says 15 Indian seafarers have been killed and two are missing in 57 incidents over the last three months in West Asia and the Black Sea.
The DGMA, following instructions from the shipping minister, has set up a system to monitor Indian crew operating in high-risk waters. It recorded 57 separate events in the past three months, resulting in 15 fatalities and two disappearances among Indian nationals. The regulator described the geopolitical environment as extremely challenging. The agency is now tracking every Indian seafarer in the affected zones.
