Indiana woman charged with murder after father found stabbed and heart missing

An Indiana woman was charged with murder after her father was discovered dead with multiple stab wounds and his heart removed during a welfare check.

During a welfare check on July 26, Porter County Sheriff's Office deputies entered a Valparaiso residence after a relative could not reach the occupant. Inside, they discovered a body with numerous stab wounds to the head, neck, hands and arms, and an apparent removal of the heart from the chest cavity. Officers observed blood on the floor and on the victim, and later identified the victim's daughter, who was covered in blood, as a suspect.

Court documents show she was formally charged with murder on July 28. The autopsy classified the death as a homicide caused by multiple sharp-force injuries, and the case is proceeding in Porter County court.
