Leading equipment and software firms are deepening consolidation in industrial AI, with Schneider Electric spending $350 million on AiDASH and $3.1 billion on Cognite among a wave of high-value deals.
The industrial AI landscape is witnessing a surge of consolidation as the sector’s six largest firms on the Forbes Global 2000 list pursue strategic deals. Schneider Electric announced an all-cash $350 million acquisition of AiDASH and, a month earlier, agreed to buy Cognite for $3.1 billion, integrating both under its AVEVA subsidiary. Siemens entered a partnership with IFS to create a seamless loop from engineering intent to operational outcome, while ABB disclosed a $14 billion acquisition budget after spending $5.5 billion on Rotork and divesting its robotics division to Softbank for $5.375 billion, supplementing its portfolio with Meshmind and LandingAI collaborations.
Rockwell Automation is expanding through purchases like Knowledge Lens and Clearpath Robotics, and Honeywell’s automation arm is targeting deals between $2 billion and $4 billion after a $14 billion spend on roughly ten acquisitions. Emerson finalized a $7.2 billion takeover of AspenTech, valuing the software company at $16.8 billion, and executives anticipate that industrial AI could unlock over $1 trillion of value by 2036. Market forecasts suggest the global industrial AI and automation market may grow to $570 billion by 2034, with agentic AI potentially reaching $150-200 billion.
