Infinity Gymnastics shuts its doors after nearly ten years on the North Coast

Infinity Gymnastics, which began in Astoria in January 2017 before relocating to Seaside’s former high school building in 2023, will close its doors officially on Friday after a week of inactivity. Owner Nancy Taylor said the decision stemmed from a combination of higher operating expenses, inflation, a shortage of staff and a decline in enrollment, making the business unsustainable despite restructuring efforts. Over its nine-and-a-half-year run, the gym provided recreational gymnastics, preschool programs, ninja classes, cheer clinics, birthday parties, summer camps and the region’s sole competitive Xcel team, drawing athletes from across Clatsop County.

The program recently celebrated a strong showing at the Oregon Xcel State Championships, with several gymnasts earning podium placements. Local families and officials, including coach Amber Hill and Mark Kujala of Columbia Memorial Hospital, lamented the loss, highlighting the gym’s importance as a community gathering place and a catalyst for youth confidence and teamwork. Taylor hopes the gym’s legacy will endure in the confidence it helped build in its participants.
