Influence Media Partners to buy Anthem Entertainment's music and film assets for over $600 million
Influence Media Partners, backed by BlackRock affiliates, agreed to purchase the bulk of Anthem Entertainment’s publishing, master recordings and film-TV catalog in a deal valued at more than $600 million, with closing expected in Q4 2026.
Influence Media Partners, together with funds managed by BlackRock affiliates, signed an agreement to acquire virtually all of Anthem Entertainment’s assets, encompassing its music publishing catalog, master recordings and film-television publishing rights, for a purchase price exceeding $600 million. The catalog contains more than 24,000 released songs and over 60,000 unreleased works, featuring titles such as Britney Spears’ “Oops!… I Did It Again,” Justin Timberlake’s “SexyBack,” and Rush’s “Tom Sawyer,” plus soundtracks from the Spider-Man, Men in Black and Lego Ninjago franchises.
Influence Media founder Lylette Pizarro McLean described the deal as a milestone that adds iconic music tied to major cultural moments, while BlackRock CIO Paul Braude praised the high-quality IP as aligned with the firm’s investment strategy. Anthem CEO Jason Klein reflected on two decades of building the catalog and expressed pride in its stewardship. Financing is being provided by Truist, with legal counsel from firms including Clifford Chance, Stikeman Elliott, and Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt, and the transaction is slated to close in the fourth quarter of 2026.
Why it matters
The deal reshapes music-rights ownership, giving a BlackRock-backed platform control over a vast, lucrative catalog of songs and film scores.
