Instagram Reel Captures Final Moments Before Punjab Woman's Murder by Ex-Husband
Police say Gurmeet Singh lured his ex-wife Saroj to a remote spot in Fazilka, attacked her with a knife and buried her after a short Instagram video showed them together.
A short Instagram reel posted on Saroj's account showed the 42-year-old woman smiling with her former husband Gurmeet Singh, who flashed a victory sign while a Punjabi love song played in the background. Police investigations reveal that Singh called Saroj under the pretense of reconciling and led her to a secluded spot near bushes in Jandwala Mira Sangla village, Fazilka district. There, he allegedly assaulted her with a sharp-edged weapon and buried her in a shallow pit to hide evidence.
A goatherd grazing nearby heard her cries, rushed to the scene, and after noticing Singh flee, informed villagers who summoned law enforcement. Authorities later recovered the body, sent it to Fazilka Civil Hospital for autopsy, and arrested Gurmeet Singh at the village.
