Inwave Films Secures Global Sales for Lucila Mariani's Dreamy Argentine Debut "The Days Off"
Inwave Films has bought worldwide sales rights to Lucila Mariani’s first feature, “The Days Off,” which will debut in the Filmmakers of the Present section at Locarno.
International sales company Inwave Films, operating from Paris and Beijing, has acquired worldwide sales rights to “The Days Off,” the first feature by Argentine writer-director Lucila Mariani. The film blends a teenage coming-of-age narrative with a surreal, science-fiction tone, tracking 12-year-old Bego as she seeks escape through a virtual friend amid Argentina’s rising inflation, rolling blackouts and a looming solar eclipse.
Antonia Robolini leads the cast alongside Laura Paredes, Luiza Quinteiro and Guillermo Berthold. Produced by a consortium that includes Maravillacine, Persona Non Grata Pictures, Vulcana Films, Woo Films, Valiente Films, Misia Films and Año Luz, the project also earned the ArteKino Award at the San Sebastián Co-Production Forum. Cinematographer Victoria Pereda combined phone, webcam and security-camera footage, while Maximiliano Passarelli edited and Gaspar Schauer provided sound. The world premiere is scheduled for Aug. 7 in the Filmmakers of the Present section of the 79th Locarno Film Festival.
