Iran launches drone strike on U.S. base in Kuwait, citing retaliation for Qeshm attack

Iran’s armed forces reported that drones struck strategic U.S. assets at Kuwait’s Ahmad Al-Jaber airbase, targeting hangars, satellite communications and equipment depots, in retaliation for a U.S. strike on a residential building on Qeshm Island that killed three people. The claim, conveyed through the semi-official Tasnim news agency, frames the Kuwaiti installation as essential for American aerial surveillance and operational support in the region.

Washington has not yet commented on the extent of damage or any injuries. Tehran’s senior researcher Ali Akbar Dareini told Al one outlet that Iran aims to thwart future U.S. offensives by hitting staging grounds, shifting from vertical to horizontal escalation. The United States Central Command confirmed earlier strikes on IRGC sites across Iran, while Jordan and Kuwait reported missile interceptions and a fatality at a Chinese-owned building, respectively. Parallel incidents in Egypt, Iraq, Jordan and the Red Sea have raised concerns of a widening regional war.
