Irvine tops national ranking as best city for hangover recovery
Irvine, California, led a new nationwide index of cities offering the most hangover-relief options, outpacing other U.S. locales.
A new ranking compiled by Play Casino, based on Waterboy’s “Hungover Hotspots” data, identified Irvine, California, as the nation’s most equipped city for treating hangovers, scoring 98.8, 142.7 and 455 relevant listings per 100,000 residents. The index weighted wellness amenities and hangover-friendly food options at 40% each, with online search demand contributing the remaining 20%. California dominated the top seven, with Long Beach, Oakland and Stockton also appearing, while Plano, Texas, held the second spot.
The study highlighted Irvine’s 230 brunch venues per 100,000 residents and noted that Stockton leads in diner availability. Researchers warned the list measures local convenience, not proven remedies, and the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism reiterated that no hangover cure has scientific validation. The report also noted a decline in hangover-related searches nationwide over the past three years.
