On August 26, Irv’s Burgers, the legendary Los Angeles roadside stand that opened in 1946, will mark its 80th year with a city-wide promotion across its six Southern California locations. The Original Roadside Single will be sold for just $.80, and patrons aged 80 or older can receive it at no cost. Each venue will run 80 separate giveaways, including a “Free Burgers for a Year” prize, $80 gift cards and exclusive merchandise.
CEO Lawrence Longo said the celebration aims to revive the simple, neighborhood vibe that once attracted rock icons like Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix and Linda Ronstadt, whose photo even appeared on a 1978 album cover. Today, celebrities such as Drew Barrymore and Seth Rogen are regular customers. The original shop, now a historic landmark, has been relocated, and the chain will donate $0.80 per full-price combo sold on the anniversary to local food banks. Longo likened Irv’s to a resilient underdog, emphasizing quality food and hospitality over hype.
