Israeli survivor of Oct. 7 attack dies by suicide at girlfriend's gravesite

Israeli survivor Bar Asraf, 30, was found dead on Saturday night at the Elkana cemetery in the West Bank, having suffered a gunshot wound to the chest at the gravesite of his partner Liron Barda. Barda, 26, was murdered by Hamas fighters during the Oct. 7 Nova Festival attack, where she worked as a bartender and stayed to help injured festivalgoers. Asraf, who had kept close ties with Barda’s parents and regularly visited the site, was pronounced dead despite the arrival of emergency medical teams.
The incident w. Barda’s father, Avi, recalled his daughter’s refusal to flee the area despite the danger. The tragedy underscores the lingering trauma experienced by victims’ families.
