Jalen Carter's dominant play electrifies Eagles' training camp after record contract

Defensive tackle Jalen Carter is showcasing his full health and impact in Philadelphia, repeatedly batting down passes and overpowering linemen during the Eagles' camp.

Jalen Carter secured a historic contract extension on July 29, committing him to the Philadelphia Eagles through the 2031 season. In the first week of camp, he has repeatedly swatted passes at the line of scrimmage, including a red-zone deflection of Jalen Hurts on August 7, marking at least his fourth such play in seven sessions. Teammates, including Saquon Barkley and Jordan Davis, highlighted his recovered shoulder strength and renewed mobility, contrasting with the shoulder issues that limited him last season.

Defensive coordinator Vic Fangio observed that Carter’s improved conditioning is translating into better execution of fundamentals. Opposing offenses are already allocating extra blockers to Carter, which linebacker Zack Baun says creates more freedom for the rest of the defense. Despite the lucrative deal, Carter says his preparation routine remains unchanged, focusing on daily improvement and team chemistry.
