JD Vance warns that far-left policies could hurt Michigan’s auto sector and wages

On a televised interview, JD Vance labeled Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed a “limousine socialist,” contending that the candidate’s progressive policies would erode Michigan’s auto-manufacturing base and lower wages. Vance said the Democratic Party’s shift toward radical ideas, including wealth redistribution and unrestricted immigration, threatens private-property rights and self-sufficiency. He noted that El-Sayed, backed by figures such as Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, defeated Rep. Haley Stevens, who campaigned on protecting the auto sector.

Vance argued that El-Sayed’s opposition to the Trump-era tariffs that supported the industry and his support for low-wage immigration would drive down earnings for workers. The vice president also dismissed the notion that simply reallocating assets creates prosperity, emphasizing the need for industrial growth. One outlet sought comment from El-Sayed’s campaign without a response.
