Jillian Michaels warns of unsafe DIY gray-market weight-loss peptides

Fitness trainer Jillian Michaels cautioned that buying unregulated weight-loss peptides online and self-administering them can cause serious health problems.

During a recent broadcast, fitness expert Jillian Michaels warned that the growing trend of purchasing unregulated weight-loss peptides from overseas vendors and dosing oneself can lead to severe health complications, including cardiovascular problems, vision impairment and hormonal imbalance. She stressed that many buyers cannot verify product origins and often follow advice from online forums rather than qualified physicians.

Michaels linked the surge to a desire for rapid vanity-weight loss inspired by celebrity transformations, noting visible side effects such as gauntness and hair loss. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has responded by sending warning letters to telehealth firms and alerting the public to hundreds of adverse reports tied to unapproved GLP-1 drugs. FDA Commissioner Marty Makary warned that compounded drugs should not be used to evade the agency’s approval process. Michaels concluded that unsupervised use can trigger rebound hunger and a harmful yo-yo dieting cycle, urging people to consult doctors before considering any peptide therapy.
