John Oliver to Appear in New Days of Our Lives Storyline Next Week

John Oliver revealed that he will make another soap-opera appearance, this time on Days of Our Lives, with episodes scheduled for Aug. 11, 12, and 14. A promotional video posted on Friday shows Oliver in a different wig, delivering a knock at the door of Mayor Paulina Price, portrayed by Jackée Harry. Because the show typically films about ten months ahead, the crew had to weave his character into already-shot material, according to executive producer Ken Corday.

Oliver’s earlier stint on General Hospital concluded last month after three episodes in which he played a shadowy head of a global spy agency called “Z.” He first pitched himself for a soap role on his own program in March, citing admiration for Stephen A. Smith’s recurring part on the same series. Behind-the-scenes footage shows him working with Daniel Feuerriegel and Maggie Carney, who described the experience as a “blast.”
