Journeyman winger Zeph Thomas prepares Dearne & District for historic FA Cup debut
Former St Kitts & Nevis international Zeph Thomas, now player-manager of Dearne & District, will lead the club in its first FA Cup match.
Zeph Thomas, a 36-year-old former St Kitts & Nevis international, has logged 39 club moves in an 18-year career that spanned non-league England and stints in Belgium, Canada and the United States. Appointed player-manager of Dearne & District in 2024, he steered the Goldthorpe-based side to the Northern Counties East League First Division championship last season. The club now prepares for its inaugural FA Cup appearance, travelling to Runcorn Town in the extra-preliminary round.
Thomas, who grew up in Bradford and was released by Rotherham United in 2008, now resides a short walk from the club’s ground with his wife Marie and children Jerome and Lucia. He balances his part-time role at Dearne & District with a coaching position for Derby County’s under-12s. Reflecting on his peripatetic past, Thomas says he now urges young players to focus on development rather than chasing higher wages.
