Julianne Moore to Lead Sarah Ruhl's New Play Faydra at Manhattan Theatre Club

Julianne Moore is slated to headline the world premiere of Faydra, a new work by Pulitzer-Prize-finalist playwright Sarah Ruhl. The play reimagines a classic Greek tale, focusing on Aphrodite’s arrow that draws the heroine toward her stepson, Hippolytus. Staged by the Manhattan Theatre Club, the Off-Broadway run will commence at New York City Center’s Stage 1 on February 2, 2027, with a formal opening night slated for February 25.

Moore, known for both her film accolades and stage experience, joins a production directed by Les Waters, marking his return to the club after thirty years. Nicki Hunter, the club’s artistic director, highlighted the project’s boldness and humor. Further casting details are expected to be released in the coming months.
