JW Marriott launches Virginia's first luxury hotel and residences in Reston
The JW Marriott brand opened its inaugural Virginia properties—a hotel and a residential tower—at Reston Station, turning the suburb into a luxury destination.
Fairfax County’s affluent suburb of Reston has added the JW Marriott brand to its skyline with the opening of a hotel and a luxury residential tower at Reston Station. These are the first JW Marriott properties in Virginia, joining a $1.3 billion mixed-use project that grew after the area adopted detailed urban design guidelines and the Metro Silver Line arrived in 2014. Bruce Rohr, JW Marriott’s global brand leader, described the hotel as a “different expression of luxury” that fits a transit-oriented, walkable community.
The hotel includes 14 junior suites, executive suites, a presidential suite, and a new “mindful rooms” concept aimed at wellness-focused travelers. The adjacent residences target affluent buyers, highlighted by a $10.25 million penthouse sale, and were developed by Comstock, which also built the nearby BLVD Haley tower. Chef Anthony DiGregorio, executive chef at the hotel’s Simon restaurant, noted the area’s rapid rise, positioning Reston as a standalone destination for business and leisure visitors to the Washington, D.C. region.
Why it matters
The new JW Marriott sites signal Reston's shift from suburb to upscale urban hub, boosting local economy and tourism.
