Kaley Cuoco Returns as a Rebel Leader in Stuart Fails Episode Two
Episode two of “Stuart Fails to Save the Universe” reveals a surprise cameo by Kaley Cuoco, portraying a militant version of Penny in a multiverse setting.
In the latest episode of “Stuart Fails to Save the Universe,” the trio of Stuart (Kevin Sussman), Kripke (John Ross Bowie) and Bert (Brian Posehn) arrive in a peaceful version of Pasadena, only to discover they are fitted with neck devices that shock them when they argue. Their quest to find Denise (Lauren Lapkus) leads to a series of arrests and a thirty-month stint in a rehabilitation facility featuring a video hosted by Christine Baranski.
Upon release, they are seized by a guerrilla faction whose leader is a battle-hardened Penny, portrayed by Kaley Cuoco, far removed from her original Cheesecake Factory server role. The resistance also includes Denise’s new boyfriend Gary (Tommy Walker) and Penny’s ex-boyfriend Zack (Brian Thomas Smith). Chuck Lorre notes that the multiverse premise allows beloved “Big Bang Theory” actors to reappear with entirely new narratives, setting up further magical developments in the next episode.
Why it matters
The cameo highlights how streaming shows are using multiverse concepts to reinvent familiar characters and attract fans.
