Kerala commentator TG Mohandas taken into custody over controversial Jantar Mantar video
Police from Thiruvananthapuram Cyber Police detained right-wing commentator TG Mohandas at his Mattancherry home after a complaint about his YouTube remarks on the Jantar Mantar protest.
On Sunday evening, officers from Thiruvananthapuram Cyber Police, together with local police, entered TG Mohandas' house in Mattancherry and placed him in custody. The raid targeted his digital equipment after a complaint claimed his YouTube channel "Pathrika" posted content that could disturb public peace. In the video, Mohandas allegedly warned that the Jantar Mantar student demonstration might lead to gang-rape incidents and suggested that, if in charge, he would impose a curfew and order the crowd to disperse, even using live fire if necessary.
The FIR states his remarks were meant to incite fear and unrest. The investigation also involved inspecting his home in Koovappadam for further evidence. Critics have accused the Kerala government of delaying the arrest.
