Latvian Man Extradited to UK and Charged in Coventry Schoolboy Hit-and-Run
A 23-year-old Latvian citizen was flown to the UK and charged with causing death by dangerous driving in the 2024 Coventry crash that killed 12-year-old Keaton Slater.
West Midlands Police announced that Dolars Aleksanders, a 23-year-old man from Latvia, has been extradited to the United Kingdom and charged with causing death by dangerous driving. The charge relates to the 14 June 2024 collision in Coventry, where a black BMW hit 12-year-old schoolboy Keian Slater, resulting in his death. Aleksanders was detained in Latvia last month, flown into Gatwick Airport on Wednesday, and transferred to a custody facility in the West Midlands.
He is scheduled to appear before Birmingham Magistrates Court on Thursday. A spokesperson for the Crown Prosecution Service said that British, Latvian and other international agencies worked closely to bring Aleksanders back for legal proceedings.
