Legacy Motor Club expands ownership roster with stars from IndyCar, MLB, surfing and more

Legacy Motor Club revealed that nearly a dozen new backers have been added to its NASCAR Cup Series operation, bringing together champions from IndyCar, major league baseball, professional surfing and other entertainment fields. The latest cohort includes Scott Dixon, Tony Kanaan, Dario Franchitti, Bryce Harper, Kelly Slater, Andy Roddick, Chase Utley and startup founder Jen Rubio, joining earlier investors Guy Fieri, Darius Rucker, Sam Byrne and others.

Jimmie Johnson, who co-owns the team, described the collective as a non-traditional ownership model built on shared expertise in competition and storytelling. Legacy currently runs two chartered cars - the No. 42 driven by John Hunter Nemechek and the No. 43 piloted by Erik Jones - and intends to expand to three full-time entries by 2027. The broadened investor base is intended to boost the team's cultural impact and competitive edge within motorsports.
