Local boxing showcase pits nurse Martinez against nursing student Lovato in New Mexico

A six-fight card at the Embassy Suites will feature a flyweight bout between nurse Leanna Martinez and nursing student Amanda Lovato, streamed live on YouTube.

Donald Sanchez Promotions is staging a twelve-fighter, six-bout card at the Embassy Suites, with doors opening at 5 p.m. and the main event beginning at 6 p.m. The headline fight pits 34-year-old Leanna Martinez, a registered nurse with a 5-5 record, against 35-year-old Amanda Lovato, a nursing student who has fought intermittently since 2014. Martinez entered the night fresh from a second-round TKO win, while Lovato is coming back from ACL and meniscus surgery, having lost a split decision in June.

Both competitors respect each other's medical careers, and the bout will be streamed for free on YouTube due to a sellout. The undercard features local amateur Kaleb Medina making his pro debut against seasoned journeyman John Herrera, as well as several other fighters with limited professional experience. Promoter Pat Holmes highlighted the goal of giving exposure to New Mexico’s emerging talent. Additional details include Lovato’s son, Anthony Borg, who was born with hydrocephalus and is now healthy at eight years old.
