Longevity World Cup Winners Slash Biological Ages by Up to 22 Years
The inaugural Longevity World Cup announced its top three competitors, who reduced their PhenoAge scores by more than 20 years through personalized health regimens.
Adam Ficsor, a software engineer and Bitcoin developer, launched the Longevity World Cup to see who can most dramatically lower their biological age as measured by PhenoAge, a blood-test-based risk calculator. The competition, funded with Bitcoin prizes, declared its first winners in January. Michael Lustgarten, a research scientist, achieved a 22.1-year reduction, reporting a biological age of 30.9 at 53 years old after a decade of self-tracking.
Wen Zhuang, a short-sprint athlete, lowered his score by 20.1 years, attributing the result to a balanced diet, regular training, red-light sessions and a regimen of over 75 supplements, though he emphasized sleep and exercise over pills. Zdenek Sipek trimmed his PhenoAge by 20.6 years, highlighting strict daily habits, modest spending on interventions, and mindfulness practices drawn from Buddhist and Daoist texts. Columbia University epidemiologist Daniel Belsky noted that while PhenoAge is not a direct measure of aging, it can track health gains when lifestyle changes are consistent.
