Lorde pauses Lollapalooza set in Chicago as fans faint from extreme heat
Lorde stopped her Lollapalooza headline performance in Chicago after several audience members collapsed because of soaring temperatures.
On Thursday, Lorde’s headline concert at Chicago’s Lollapalooza was interrupted several times after concertgoers collapsed in the sweltering crowd. The 29-year-old singer pointed out a distressed fan to security, paused her set until first responders arrived, and then continued performing songs such as “Royals,” “Green Light,” and “Ribs.” Early in the show she commented on the heat, noting how hot it felt from the stage.
Despite the disruptions, she kept the audience engaged and later invited Charli XCX to join her for their collaborative track “Girl, So Confusing,” which drew a strong reaction. This marks Lorde’s return to the festival after previous appearances in 2014 and a weather-cut show in 2017. Lollapalooza will run through Sunday, featuring other headliners including The Smashing Pumpkins and The xx.
