LSU intensifies push to persuade five-star wideout Easton Royal to switch to Tigers

LSU is aggressively courting five-star receiver Easton Royal, who has pledged to Texas, in hopes of flipping his commitment.

After firing Brian Kelly and hiring Lane Kiffin, LSU football has made five-star wide receiver Easton Royal a top priority. Royal, ranked No. 5 in the 2027 class and the highest-rated Louisiana prospect, announced his commitment to play for Texas and Steve Sarkisian on Nov. 25. Kiffin’s staff has visited Royal at Brother Martin High School in New Orleans several times and invited him to LSU’s campus at least three times.

The program has also built a sizable NIL fund to bolster its roster through transfers and high-school recruiting. Rivals’ Sam Spiegelman forecasted that LSU could flip Royal, which would become the Tigers’ second five-star signee and seventh in-state commitment. Securing Royal would continue LSU’s tradition of landing elite Louisiana receivers, but the window to influence his decision is narrowing.

Why it matters

Winning Royal would boost LSU’s recruiting class and keep top local talent in-state.
