The statement was made on the day marking Anwar's 79th birthday.

In a January health check, doctors reported that he was in good condition and able to continue his duties. Anwar has a history of treatment for back and shoulder ailments, including hospitalization in 2018 and subsequent spinal and shoulder surgeries, though officials indicated the current procedure does not appear linked to those earlier issues.
