Man wounded in leg during gunfire at upscale Sunset Strip rooftop bar
A patron was shot in the lower leg at Harriet’s Rooftop on the Sunset Strip Sunday night, prompting a police search for the shooter.
At approximately 8:55 p.m. Sunday, shots were fired inside Harriet’s Rooftop, a high-end rooftop bar on the Sunset Strip’s 8400 block of West Sunset Boulevard. The incident occurred on the ninth floor of the 1 Hotel West Hollywood, a venue popular with celebrities. A male patron was hit in the lower leg and was rushed to a local hospital by Los Angeles County firefighters; his condition has not been released.
West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station Lieutenant Barker said deputies are attempting to determine whether a suspect remains at large and have not yet uncovered a motive. Eyewitnesses said the first discharge sounded like a popping champagne cork, followed quickly by a second, clear gunshot that caused panic and a scramble for exits. The investigation into the shooting remains ongoing.
