Masked intruders rob senior advocate's Kurukshetra home, seize valuables worth over Rs 3 crore
Four masked men broke into senior advocate Balwant Singh Walia's residence in Kurukshetra, tying up the couple and stealing cash, jewellery and a licensed revolver valued at roughly Rs 3.15 crore.
Around 9:30 pm, senior advocate Balwant Singh Walia left his Kurukshetra home to walk his dog and returned to find four masked men restraining him and his wife with tape and rope. The intruders threatened the couple with a gun, compelled Walia to open two digital lockers and stole cash, gold jewellery, silver ornaments, a licensed revolver, cartridges and other valuables estimated at Rs 3.15 crore. They also smashed four CCTV cameras, removed the DVR and demanded an additional Rs 80 lakh, threatening to return and kill the couple if they reported the crime.
Neighbours heard an alarm, rescued the couple and alerted authorities. Thanesar City police registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act, while the Crime Investigation Agency and local police are examining CCTV footage to identify the suspects. Former minister Ashok Arora criticized the deteriorating security situation in Haryana and called for swift arrests.
