EA Sports announced that Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford has been awarded a 99 overall rating in the upcoming 2027 Madden NFL game, marking the first time a current NFL MVP has achieved a perfect score. The 38-year-old veteran, who posted a career-best season in 2025 with 4,707 passing yards, 46 touchdowns and an MVP award, saw his rating rise from 88 to 99, a jump of 11 points. This places him alongside Rams defensive end Myles Garrett, who earned his third 99 rating after a record-setting 23-sack year, and joins franchise legends Aaron Donald and Jalen Ramsey in the exclusive 99 Club.
Stafford's rise follows years of fluctuating ratings that never exceeded 91 and even fell to 75 during injury-plagued seasons with Detroit. The Rams now uniquely host both the league’s reigning MVP and Defensive Player of the Year, a combination never before seen at the start of a season.
