Mayor Bass Raises Over $1.1 million in June, Outpacing Challenger Raman by $300,000

Campaign finance reports show Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass collected upwards of $510,000 in donations during June, marking the highest single-month total of her reelection effort. Councilmember Nithya Raman’s contributions for the same period amounted to just over $170,000, leaving Bass with a lead of about $300,000. Bass also secured more than $675,000 in publicly funded matching money, pushing her June total past $1.1 million, while Raman’s matching funds exceeded $500,000, putting her total just under $750,000.
Independent groups spent over $2.5 million backing Bass and $1.2 million opposing Raman, highlighting a stark disparity in outside spending. Both candidates had previously received the full $1,257,000 in matching funds during the primary, where Bass led with 34% of the vote and Raman placed second with 29%. The fundraising gap is expected to shape advertising and outreach strategies ahead of the November 3 runoff.
