McGregor announces knee surgery success and vows return to the octagon

Conor McGregor shared a video from a poolside setting, announcing that his knee surgery to fix a torn ACL and meniscus was successful following the July injury that halted his fight against Max Holloway. The Irish fighter, who was returning after a broken leg in his previous match with Dustin Poirier, said the real work of rehabilitation is now underway and that he plans to honor the last fight remaining on his UFC contract.

He posted a message to fans, rejecting doubters and promising a no-excuses comeback season. McGregor also referenced former champions like Dominick Cruz and Georges St-Pierre, as well as NFL stars Tom Brady and Aaron Rogers, as examples of athletes who overcame similar setbacks. Although a civil jury found him liable for a 2018 sexual-assault claim, his appeal was denied, and his return to the cage is not expected before next summer.
