In the rescheduled race, Melanie Woods of Scotland surged ahead early and maintained her lead, ultimately setting a new Commonwealth Games record and winning gold for the second time in less than two days. Competitors Noemi Alphonse of Mauritius and Australia's Eliza Ault-Connell stayed close for several laps, but the latter fell back before the final straight.
Ellis Kottas of England, who had earned silver in the initial contest, described herself as "low-key traumatised" and ended the race in fourth place. Woods, who uses a wheelchair after a 2018 cycling accident, will also race in the 400m later on Friday.
