Mercedes-Benz issues recall for over 310,000 models over door-lock corrosion risk

Mercedes-Benz announced a recall affecting 310,667 vehicles spanning model years 2019 through 2026 after discovering that a micro-switch in the driver-side door lock can corrode. This corrosion may cause the vehicle’s systems to fail to detect an open door, disabling the electronic parking brake and the Auto-Park feature, which could theoretically allow a car to roll unintentionally. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has documented the issue, though Mercedes reports no known cases of such rollaway events.

Owners of the affected A-Class, C-Class, GLC SUV and CLE coupe models can have the faulty lock replaced at no cost by a dealer. The recall follows earlier 2026 actions, including a February recall of over 11,000 electric cars for a high-voltage battery fault and a May recall of 144,000 vehicles for instrument panel software problems.
