Meta introduced the America’s Workforce Academy in June, allocating $115 million to a four-week, tuition-free bootcamp that equips participants with fiber-optic, server and safety credentials and guarantees a job with a Meta contractor after graduation. The first Indiana cohort includes former custodian Lanyia Brooks, retail employee Ethan Blake and cybersecurity graduate Anne Lubin, each describing the program as a rapid route to stable, skilled-trade employment.
Trainers Kenny Johnson and Johnston Wilson emphasize the urgent need for roughly 500,000 new electricians to support AI-driven infrastructure. Partners such as NextEra Energy’s CEO John Ketchum and Stoner Electric Group’s Sam Rathert provide hiring pathways, while Mike Rowe’s mikeroweWORKS Foundation highlights the cultural shift toward valuing vocational work. Dina Powell McCormick likened the effort to historic industrial mobilizations, aiming to lift workers out of paycheck-to-paycheck cycles and strengthen national competitiveness.
