Meta unveils Muse Glimmer, a lightweight AI model for personal computers

Meta introduced Muse Glimmer, an open-weight AI model that can run on a Mac or PC, and announced plans for a similar version of its larger Muse Spark model.

The company revealed Muse Glimmer on Monday, describing it as a compact, agentic model that users can download and customize locally. Open-weight architecture allows the software to be run on standard personal computers. Meta said Glimmer was created by distilling knowledge from its flagship Muse Spark model. The firm also indicated that an open-weight variant of Muse Spark will be released in the near future. CEO Mark Zuckerberg accompanied the launch with a lengthy essay advocating for broadly accessible superintelligent AI.
