Miami Heat reshape roster with Giannis trade, draft picks and free-agent signings
The Heat have overhauled their lineup, acquiring Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis in a blockbuster trade and adding several players through the draft and free agency.
In a major offseason move, the Miami Heat traded Tyler Herro, Kel'el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakučionis, the No. 13 pick in the 2026 draft, two future first-rounders, a future pick swap and a future second-rounder to the Milwaukee Bucks for Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis, creating a new duo with Bam Adebayo. The Heat added second-round pick Ryan Conwell from Oklahoma City and signed undrafted guard Tre Donaldson to a two-way contract after strong Summer League showings.
Small forward Andrew Wiggins opted into his player option and accepted a reduced extension to preserve future cap flexibility. Free-agency signings included Simone Fontecchio, Tim Hardaway Jr., and the team remains interested in Klay Thompson, Bradley Beal and Victor Oladipo as they finalize the roster.
Why it matters
The Heat's aggressive roster moves could reshape the Eastern Conference power balance for the upcoming NBA season.
