Miami locks in coach Mario Cristobal with long-term contract extension

University of Miami announced a multi-year contract for head coach Mario Cristobal, cementing his place after guiding the Hurricanes to a 13-win, school-record season and a College Football Playoff berth. Over his four-year tenure, Cristobal has amassed a 35-19 record, with 23 victories coming in the last two campaigns following a rocky start. Prior to Miami, he led Oregon to a 35-13 record and spent six seasons at Florida International.

The program returns star wide receiver Malachi Toney and welcomes quarterback Darian Mensah, transferred from Duke, fueling expectations that Miami will dominate the ACC and vie for another national title. The Hurricanes will kick off the 2026 season on September 4 against Stanford, with the game televised on one outlet at 9 p.m. ET.
