Michigan Senate hopeful Abdul el Sayed fires back at Trump’s attacks

Abdul el Sayed, the Democratic nominee who secured the Michigan Senate primary, responded to President Donald Trump’s recent Las Vegas speech that attacked him as a communist and alleged antisemitic views. During one outlet's interview, el Sayed thanked Trump sarcastically and pointed to the president’s focus on personal grievances rather than pressing economic concerns, such as the absence of a tax on tips and soaring gas prices.

He criticized Trump for diverting attention from the nation’s affordability crisis and called for the president to address substantive issues. El Sayed reiterated his platform of campaign finance reform, tax relief for citizens, and the implementation of Medicare for all. Trump’s remarks also referenced el Sayed’s narrow win over establishment-backed Rep. Haley Stevens, suggesting waning Democratic enthusiasm.
