Migrant camp forms on Ceuta's Trampolín beach as asylum seekers await aid

With the Temporary Immigrant Shelter in Ceuta full, about four hundred migrants have spread across the 140-meter Trampolín beach, constructing blankets, cardboard shelters and a few straw umbrellas. Aid groups visited on Monday to provide food and water, but many still rely on buying basic provisions from a local shop, showing crumpled dirhams as payment. Among the occupants are a Nigerian youth named Jon, a group of six siblings from the Comoros, and a Yemeni man called Khaled, who recounts a journey through multiple African countries and the loss of his brother at the El Tarajal jetty.

Police consider the beach a “hot spot,” while Red Cross blankets and NGO assistance offer limited relief. International television crews have filmed the scene, capturing migrants’ raw pleas for asylum as they await answers from Spanish authorities.
