Mild 4.3 quake rattles Nashik, cracks appear in a few homes
A 4.3-magnitude earthquake struck Nashik district late Saturday, followed by a smaller tremor early Sunday, with no reported injuries.
According to one outlet Centre for Seismology, a magnitude-4.3 earthquake occurred at roughly 10 pm on Saturday in the Bhanwad area near the Hatgad range along the Maharashtra-Gujarat border, followed by a magnitude-3.3 tremor at 5:33 am Sunday. The tremors were experienced in Nashik city and the talukas of Surgana, Kalwan, Deola, Chandwad, Peth, Dindori and Niphad, causing panic among residents. Damage was limited to cracks in the walls of houses in Bhadar village of Surgana taluka and Nanashi village of Dindori taluka.
No deaths or injuries have been reported. District officials, including the collector, inspected dams in the region and found no harm. Authorities urged the public to stay calm, avoid rumors, and remain vigilant.
