Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch Enters Governor's Race

Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch revealed she will seek the governorship, positioning herself as a "Trump conservative" who reflects the state's values. Fitch, the first woman to hold the attorney general post, previously served two terms as state treasurer and led efforts like Operation Hope to combat foster-care trafficking. In her announcement, she pledged to focus on lowering costs for residents, enhancing community safety, and strengthening the economy while upholding faith, family, and freedom.

She also noted her opposition to expanding access to the abortion pill and her role in the Dobbs case that overturned Roe v. Wade. Fitch enters a Republican primary that already includes Agriculture Commissioner Andy Gipson, former Rep. Philip Gunn, and State Auditor Shad White, with the incumbent governor term-limited and no Democratic challenger announced.
