Modi to Open New Rs 5,640 crore International Airport in Andhra Pradesh

On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to commission the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram in Vizianagaram district, Andhra Pradesh. The Rs 5,640 crore greenfield project, executed through a public-private partnership, will serve up to six million travelers annually and features advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, biometric verification, and an Airport Predictive Operations Centre.

Sustainable design elements include energy-efficient HVAC, a 5 MW solar array, rain-water harvesting and electric-vehicle charging stations, with the terminal certified under US Green Building Council standards. The inauguration is part of a two-state tour that also includes the foundation stone for Andhra Pradesh’s first semiconductor fab under the India Semiconductor Mission, renewable-energy transmission works worth nearly Rs 10,000 crore, and highway projects totaling about Rs 1,880 crore. Later, Modi will open the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Youth Centre in Mysuru, aimed at fostering value-based education for over 10,000 young people.
