Monterey Man’s False Stabbing Claim Leads to Girlfriend’s Attempted Murder Arrest
A Monterey man blamed a random attacker for his stab wounds, but police uncovered that his 19-year-old girlfriend, Jerralyn Stringer, was the assailant and arrested her for attempted murder.
On July 2, a man from Monterey presented to Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula with several stab wounds, claiming a stranger had assaulted him on North Fremont Street. Police searches and witness interviews failed to corroborate his story, prompting detectives to re-examine the incident. Attention shifted to his 19-year-old girlfriend, Jerralyn Stringer, after neighbors reported a heated dispute at their Dela Vina Avenue apartment that turned violent.
Authorities concluded Stringer had repeatedly stabbed her boyfriend during the altercation. An arrest warrant for felony attempted murder was issued, and she was apprehended around 1:05 p.m. near Gibson and Forest avenues in Pacific Grove without incident. Stringer was booked into Monterey County Jail and held on a $1,000,000 bail.
