Canadian federal police announced the arrest of Marc Porlier, 51, from Montreal, on accusations of sending an email that threatened Prime Minister Mark Carney. The message was also forwarded to a senator and other unnamed recipients. Porlier faces a charge of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm. He appeared before a court on Saturday, though the allegations have yet to be proven in a trial.
