More Than 200 Firefighters Combat Fast-Moving Wildfire in Southern France

The wildfire ignited around midday near a local road in Lozère, roughly 140 km northwest of Montpellier, and officials suspect a vehicle fire as the cause. By late afternoon the flames had consumed about 90 hectares and continued to advance. Around 220 firefighters from Lozère and neighboring departments were on the scene, aided by four Canadair water-bombing planes and a Dash aircraft, with additional crews expected. Local fire services warned that the situation remained uncontrolled.
