Mother and Boyfriend Convicted of Murder and Abuse of Two-Year-Old in Thornaby
A mother, Alexandra Walker, and her partner, Harrison Simpson, were found guilty of murdering their two-year-old daughter, Isabelle Welsh, after a prolonged campaign of abuse.
In a case heard at Teesside Crown Court, Alexandra Walker and her boyfriend Harrison Simpson were convicted of murdering two-year-old Isabelle Welsh. The court heard that the child endured a sustained series of injuries, including 21 broken bones, bruises, and a fractured skull that proved fatal. Prosecutors said the abuse began soon after Simpson entered the family’s life in June 2025, and that Walker must have been aware of the severity of the harm.
On the morning of 13 September, Isabelle collapsed while alone with Simpson, prompting Walker to call 999 later that afternoon; the girl died in hospital the following day. Both were found guilty of murder and child cruelty, with Simpson also convicted of sexual abuse of a child, and will be sentenced on Thursday.
