Mother of Missing Nova Scotia Siblings Breaks Silence After 15 Months

Malehya Brooks-Murray, 29, finally addressed the media 15 months after her four-year-old son Jack and six-year-old daughter Lilly disappeared from their home in Lansdowne, Nova Scotia. She explained that she followed RCMP guidance to remain out of the public eye, underwent two polygraph examinations and extensive questioning, and maintains she is not a suspect. The disappearance on May 2, 2025 triggered one of the province’s largest searches, with 1,700 search-and-rescue personnel logging more than 12,000 hours across 8.5 km² of rugged woods.

Authorities have found no evidence of a crime, have executed search warrants, and issued a vulnerable persons alert rather than an Amber Alert. Brooks-Murray expressed frustration with limited updates, but remains hopeful the children are alive and continues to honor them through artwork, keychains, and participation in a Canada Day parade in Westville. She also plans to return to school in September to train as an addictions counsellor.
